The Power of Stepping Back

Sometimes helping less, helps children learn more. As parents, we naturally want to help our children.

We tie their shoes, answer their questions, pack their bags, solve their problems and remind them what to do next. Often, it's quicker and easier to do things ourselves!

But when we continually step in, we may unintentionally take away opportunities for our children to practise skills, solve problems and discover what they can do.

AND stepping back doesn't mean stepping away. It means giving your child time and space to try, while remaining close enough to help when needed.
